Nestled in the touristic town of Ubud in Bali is this pretty little property, which, despite being located just along the road, offers a peaceful and comfortable stay.
Gekkos Ubud has only five rooms and one mini villa, limiting the number of guests they take, which is why you won’t have to worry about waiting for your turn in a busy lobby or having to endure noisy neighbors.
Although this place does not offer breakfast, I really liked our stay because it was comfortable and the pool was literally just a few steps from our door. The service was great as well, which I think is one of the advantages when there are only a small number of guests.
One of the caretakers, Putu, was also very accommodating and even helped us with renting a scooter and finding a ride back to Kuta.
Although this little place looks very secluded, it is actually just a few minutes away from local shops and restaurants. In fact, one of my best dining experiences in Bali took place right across the villa, at Bubu Warung. Their Nasi Campur (a local dish) was so much better and cheaper than the one we had at a pricey restaurant in the Tegallalang area.
Ubud may be a touristy area, but there are a lot of affordable accommodations like Gekkos. You just have to be patient in choosing the right one. I had a hard time deciding where to stay, but I’m glad we ended up here!
P.S. I booked this accommodation through Agoda for only Php 3,000+ for two nights. Isn’t that a steal? 😉
