Chasing the Sunrise: Bagacay Point Lighthouse

Tell your friends about it!

Do you love sunrises as much as I do? Here’s a really nice spot to wait for the sun to come up!

Built in 1904, the active lighthouse has been providing guiding light to seafarers and fishermen for many years. Bagacay Point Lighthouse, also referred to as the Parola, is one of the many attractions visited by tourists in Cebu and is a well-known location for photoshoots as well.

The best time for a photoshoot? During sunrise, of course!

There is a small viewing deck by the sea where you can watch the sunrise. We got there by just following the trail. It was extremely muddy as it was raining the night before, so it’s best to always bring an extra pair of footwear, just in case.

Bagacay Point Lighthouse is located in Brgy. Catarmna, Liloan, Cebu (near Amara Subdivision)

How to Get There

By private vehicle

There are several routes going to the lighthouse, depending on where you’re coming from. So, it’s best to consult your trusted navigation app if you’re taking a private vehicle. 😉

By public transportation

Take a jeepney or cab going to San Fernando Rey Church (Liloan). From there, go to the sports complex beside the church, where you will find the tricycles. They have different routes though, so you’d have to ask which one is going to Catarman. Then, ask the driver to drop you off at the basketball court. The lighthouse will be visible from there. Just walk and follow the path, and you’ll reach your destination in a few minutes.
